The first annual MF Christmas Charity Cup took place yesterday at Lathbury Sports Complex in Gibraltar. The tournament saw a tense battle between home side Wave FC and Spanish team Sportcab Marbella for the trophy, with the Spaniards cinching victory 7-5 despite a spirited comeback from Wave in the second half.
In addition to the Cup, player and junior player of the match trophies were awarded to players from Sportcab and Wave respectively.
MF would like to express it's sincere gratitude to Wave FC founder John Gontier for organising the tournament, as well as to Gibraltar businesses Midtown Clinic, Fit4Life, Lewis Stagnetto, TIA hardware store and Cosmos electronics for donating to the prize draw.
With the money raised, MF will be able to provide over 150 hours of free English lessons to disadvantaged children in Syria, as well as paid work to its CLP graduates.
